Surfing is a rare chance to see a side of life most people never knew existed and we would like to extend that opportunity to anyone with a desire to learn. Austin Magee's Surf School is here to bring the joy and excitement of surfing to everyone. We focus on water safety, ocean awareness, and surfing fundamentals. Our mission is to provide each student with a safe, creative, and fun surfing experience. We recognize that each student will have individual needs and it is our goal to provide students with the proper care and encouragement to succeed. We offer a variety of lesson plans for any age or skill level.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? ARE ALL SUPPLIES INCLUDED?

We provide everything you need to learn how to surf. All you need to do is wear a bathing suit. If the water is cold wetsuits will be provided for you. Feel free to bring anything else you'll need for a day at the beach. We have a Surf School tent on the beach where it is safe to leave your belongings, however, we are not responsible for any lost, misplaced, or stolen property.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you sign up for Kids Camp on a specific day(s) and are unable to make it, we do require a minimum of 12 hours notice. Which means, if we are starting at 9 a.m., then we need you to cancel by calling or emailing by 9 p.m. the night before. If you fail to do so, you are responsible for payment for Kids Camp. For Private, Group, or Mini Lessons, confirming the number of people in your group prior to the time of the lesson is crucial as it will alter how many instructors are needed. If someone cancels or no longer wants to participate the lesson, please contact us 12 hours before the lesson start time or we will have to charge you the confirmed rate for all participants.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS RAINING?

Safety is our number one priority, so we will only cancel Surf School if the surf or weather conditions are unsafe for lessons. Which means if it is only raining (as in no lightning or thunder), we will still surf. However, if we deem that any unsafe weather conditions move in, we will either cancel Surf School ahead of time, or during, and allow you to make up the missed class.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS?

We do so on a case by case basis. If your child has any special needs, it is required to make this known to us prior to signing them up. Please call or email us. This is for the safety of your child and others so we can ensure they have the best surfing experience possible.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WAVES ARE SMALL?

Unfortunately, we cannot predict what Mother Nature has in store. We always hope that when you are with us that you have the ideal surfing conditions. However, sometimes that is not the case. If the ocean is flat or if the waves are very small, we will always have other in water activities available such as paddle boarding, kayaking, or surf paddling exercises. We will choose these exercises depending on the age and skill levels of the students. If we have these conditions, we will under no circumstances reimburse or refund a class. If you would like to know the surfing conditions prior to signing up or showing up, you can always reach out to us the day before your scheduled lesson and we will share the forecast with you so you can decide in advance if you want to change the day you join us.

CAN I BOOK A BIRTHDAY PARTY OR LARGE GROUP?

We can accommodate any group size or party. Please call or email us to discuss details, as the price depends on how many participants are included, as it will alter how many instructors are needed. Also, remember Mother Nature, not us, dictates the weather and waves, so while we can predict both, we can’t be sure that the right conditions will arise. Once booked, we’ll ask for a small deposit to hold the time slot but if the weather or ocean conditions are not safe to have the lesson, we’ll let you know as well as return the deposit.
